TheraSphere is a treatment consisting of millions of tiny glass beads — each thinner than a strand of hair — containing radioactive Yttrium-90. An Interventional Radiologist will administer TheraSphere through a microcatheter typically placed in the femoral artery. Each glass bead delivers a highly concentrated dose of radiation that targets the tumor via the hepatic artery.
